Timeframe

The contest runs from February 1 to February 28. No, it’s not a leap year, so submissions will not be accepted on February 29…well, unless it’s a really kickass design or you were actually able to add another day to the month just to work on the design. Then maybe we’ll consider it. Maybe!

Kudos

For all your hard work, the first 50 submissions will receive free, organic Meu tote bags. Remember, we are an eco-friendly company, so we really dig cool items like organic tote bags that you can put your groceries in.

The top three designers will have the opportunity to choose between an Apple iPod Touch or a Nintendo Wii. Yeah, we thought that was pretty cool, too.

And, if your design moves us to tears of joy, we may have our people contact your people about licensing your submission for future use on MEU products (our attorney insists that we tell you we’re making no promises to use your submissions).

Submission Requirements

Download the template. So far, not too hard.

Meditate, light candles, channel the artistic gods. Do whatever you have to do to get into the creative mindset. Then unleash something so brilliant, so artistically profound that we’re assaulted with a deluge of phone calls from museums across the country. You’d like that. We’d like that. Everyone wins (Please note – we will not be contacting museums, but our fingers are crossed that the museums will find us).

Rock out your design and save it in an Adobe or Photoshop file. Remember to keep the design in the boundaries of screen printing (Maximum 16" x 20" design dimensions - marked by the dotted lines in the template), otherwise, someone else is getting your Wii!

Don’t leave it hanging. Give your work a name and a brief description of how it relates to the contest theme of Valentine’s Day.

Submit all designs to info@meuworld.com.

Judging Criteria
As we said in the letter, decisions will be based on the following requirements:

- Appeal
- Creativity
- Marketability
- Ability to capture the Meu spirit and contest theme.

Although we’d love to accept bribes, we feel that is unethical and we will not consider the bribe as part of the contest criteria.  But should you feel obligated, we can’t stop you. (See our website for the address)

Rejections (and we say this lovingly)
Now, we don’t necessarily want to toss anyone’s work, but we’ve set these rules and can’t change them. Basically, because then we have to call our lawyer, our editor, our PR specialist, her mother, a second cousin, and the mailman. And, really, we just don’t have that many minutes on our phone. That being said, we understand some rules are meant to be broken, just not ours. So, here are the reasons why work will be dropped.

The material:

- Is offensive. There’s no reason to go there. Enough said.
- Doesn’t fit the Valentine’s Day theme.
- Contains copyrighted material. This is pretty simple to avoid. If it’s not yours, don’t use it. Easy day.
- Uses someone else’s model or image without permission from the model and the image owner.
- Is deemed inappropriate. What does this mean? We aren’t even sure. But if you won’t show your grandmother, there’s a good chance we don’t need to see it.

Have fun, good luck, and keep smiling!!!!
